Learning Outcomes

When finished with this lesson the learner will be able to:

  • create a message using the Mail tool
  • search the addresses within the Mail tool
  • attach a file to a Mail message

Creating Mail Messages

Mail can be created in any tab, keeping in mind by using the Student View, the user will be sending from a Demo Student Account. For this reason it is advisable to send mail from the Teach tab. The Mail tool allows the user to create folders to manage messages, save drafts, and review bot receievd and sent mail. Attachments can include documents in a variety of file formats. The Mail tool is used primarily for one-to-one communication as opposed to group communication. The discussion tool is better suited for groups.

Attaching Files

Several tools within the FerrisConnect CMS allow for attaching files including the assignment, discussion, and mail tools. To attach a file using the mail tool click on the "Create Message" button and complete the process as in the previous activity. Click on the "Add Attachments" button. The "content browser" window will open allowing files to be selected from various locations including the My Files, Class Files, and My Computer areas. The My Files location is where a user may store files to be accessed across any course or section. The Class Files area is a storage area for content specific to a particular course. By selecting "My Computer" a user may upload files from their own computer to their Class Files area.
