Problems relating to browsers locking up

There is an issue with some version of Java (J2SE 5.x) in which users experience a complete lock up of their browser while in FerrisConnect.

  • This issue is not specific to a browser, it happens in all of them.
  • The actual version of java which is causing this is unknown at this moment.
  • If the browser locks up, if the user can close and re-open the browser they will be able to use FerrisConnect until it locks up again.
  • This problem usually occurs during file management activities.

The solution: If the user downloads Java SE 6, this seems to fix the problem. There are so many different choices to download from Sun's website, so here is a direct link to download Java SE 6 update 1 (this link requires you to register before downloading)..

You can also find Java SE 6u1 at this link, however be sure you locate the correct product to download as there are so many options available. Users only need Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1.
