In fall 2008, Ferris State University adopted Blackboard Vista Enterprise as its course management system (CMS), branding the new e-learning platform "FerrisConnect". FerrisConnect is a full-feature CMS integrated with the MyFSU portal and the Banner student information system. Student enrollments are automatically processed as FerrisConnect courses are created. Instructors and students may interact in FerrisConnect both synchronously and asynchronously using various tools such as discussion boards, blogs, journals, chat, whiteboard, and who's online. Instructors can post course syllabi, lesson handouts and multimedia; students can use FerrisConnect to submit assignments, take assessments, and check their grades.

FerrisConnect has several additional integrated technologies referred to as PowerLinks. These applications allow faculty to extend FerrisConnect by automatically logging students directly into other applications, including Respondus LockDown Browser, StudyMate Server, Safe Assign, and Tegrity.

Issues and Troubleshooting

Who's Online: Safari based-browsers do not appear to work with Who's Online on a Mac. Mozilla-based browsers such as Firefox appear to be more reliable. Users need to set their Who's Online status to visible/available.
